Today I'm proud of my child because...

Everyday should be a day where we can all be proud of our kids. But for today's Hot Topic, I want to hear what has made you so proud of your kid(s) lately!

For me, I was most recently proud of my son when he decided it was a cooler idea to use the potty at home than the $12 per pack of Pull-ups we've been trying out. It's been about six months coming, but I think we're finally on the brink of the long-awaited potty trained horizon!

What has made you so proud of your child lately??

  1. I'm proudest of Kyle because he is an independent person.

Over the years, he has grown not only in size, but in being more capable. He takes care of three rooms in the house by himself, mows the lawn and does a bit of light yardwork and helps me keep the rest of the house relatively tidy.

He makes his own lunch, writes out the grocery list and is, except for his inability to drive yet, fully capable of taking care of himself.

That makes me a little sad sometimes and I relish the moments when he feels the need for a hug or a cuddle (few and far between), but I know, based on what I see today, that he will be able to do things for himself when he inevitably moves out on his own. That's a pretty good (though slightly bittersweet) feeling to have.

  2. I'm extremely proud of my 17 year old who is successfully holding down a first "real" job this summer. Learning to deal with co-workers is a valuable life lesson!
My 9 yo, who does not enjoy reading all that much, just finished summer reading program at the library, and is feeling self-affirmation. She read "long chapter books" and enjoyed it!

  3. I am so proud of Caleb and Jacob for both making the Honor Roll all year long this past school year, for finishing tops in their AR goals, and having great behavior.

I am proud of Caleb for finally feeling comfortable in his own skin. We moved around alot when he was little, and I feel like he has finally come into his own person by the stability of our building a home and settling in finally. He is such a mature, sensitive, responsible young man.

I am proud of Jacob for always having a smile on his face. This little guy is even cheerful in the midst of an extremely bad and painful ear infection. He is so talkative and loveable, always asking Mom for "huggies" and "kissies."

  4. I'm proud of Regan for expanding his vocabulary to over 20 words this week! We have been working so much on words and are finally making progress! That he has been trying so hard to get his feet off the ground when he jumps and he can get the off the ground consistently now and that when he does he says tadaaa!

  5. I am proud of Benjamin (23) for gradually stepping into the role of husband and father, becoming a man before my eyes. I am proud of Michael (20) for surviving (and thriving!) in the Army's Basic Training. I am proud of my daughter Christina, who turns 18 tomorrow, for having the courage to prepare for college and step off into the unknown. And I am proud of my youngest, David (14), for constantly being upbeat and encouraging.

  8. I'm proud of my little girl, Jolie, 3 years old. She will go up to everyone in her family and tell them that she loves them, it just brigthens up them up and makes them feel, well, loved. As a parent it makes me feel proud to know that I've helped insteal that love in her. I tell her all the time that I love her and she's finally telling me "I love you too, Mommy."
    It's a wonderful feeling.

  9. Wow I read the comments before I started this and i miss the baby stages and am also glad they are over. My "baby" is 15 going on 16 and it seems some times like just yesterday we were so excited about those first. Now we are seeing a young man slowly emerge from the boy. And it makes me so proud. I now have to look up to talk to him LOL. He takes care of his own room and his bathroom and even pumps gas for me me when I need it. Not driving yet . thank goodness LOL...I enjoyed "hearing" about others children. I am a mom first and love it. And here every one seems to love that title. yeah...Missy
