10 Comments Everyday should be a day where we can all be proud of our kids. But for today's Hot Topic, I want to hear what has made you so proud of your kid(s) lately! For me, I was most recently proud of my son when he decided it was a cooler idea to use the potty at home than the $12 per pack of Pull-ups we've been trying out. It's been about six months coming, but I think we're finally on the brink of the long-awaited potty trained horizon! What has made you so proud of your child lately?? Over the years, he has grown not only in size, but in being more capable. He takes care of three rooms in the house by himself, mows the lawn and does a bit of light yardwork and helps me keep the rest of the house relatively tidy.
He makes his own lunch, writes out the grocery list and is, except for his inability to drive yet, fully capable of taking care of himself.
That makes me a little sad sometimes and I relish the moments when he feels the need for a hug or a cuddle (few and far between), but I know, based on what I see today, that he will be able to do things for himself when he inevitably moves out on his own. That's a pretty good (though slightly bittersweet) feeling to have.
My 9 yo, who does not enjoy reading all that much, just finished summer reading program at the library, and is feeling self-affirmation. She read "long chapter books" and enjoyed it!
I am proud of Caleb for finally feeling comfortable in his own skin. We moved around alot when he was little, and I feel like he has finally come into his own person by the stability of our building a home and settling in finally. He is such a mature, sensitive, responsible young man.
I am proud of Jacob for always having a smile on his face. This little guy is even cheerful in the midst of an extremely bad and painful ear infection. He is so talkative and loveable, always asking Mom for "huggies" and "kissies."
It's a wonderful feeling.
