2 Comments My 4½-year old daughter had two big events in her life the past couple of days. The first being that we FINALLY got her into a real big-kid bed. Yep, it’s been 1 year and 2 months since I originally told her that she was getting a big girl bed. My goal was May of last year but that went out the window with all the upheaval we’ve experienced in that time. I finally realized that it was truly way past time to convert her bed for the final time and it needed to be sooner than later.
Part of my issue was finding the right bedding that we could all agree on, that wouldn’t fall apart after the first wash, that would last at least a few years, and didn’t cost a small fortune. Holy mackerel was that a challenge. When we finally all agreed after a week’s hard core internet search, then it was time for the trials of finding it at the right price. Ahh the joys of sales and coupon codes! This Bama Mom found an awesome bargain – just under half the retail price. High fives all around please!
So back to our story… Thursday night was the first night of my sweet little baby girl growing up. She was so excited and proud to be in a big girl bed with her own bedding that she loved and chose for herself, she slept like a baby. Or maybe more like the big girl that she’s growing to be. It’s been a heart tugging time but also one that I’m glad to say I put off until now to be able to fully enjoy with her.
Her second big event happened today. She got to hear the heartbeat of Baby Reyes. I helped her understand what it would sound like beforehand so when she did hear the whoosh-whoosh, her eyes lit up. It was a sweet event to witness. Afterward we ran over to Wal-Mart and in the parking lot she told me, “Mommy I’m going to love the baby when it gets here. Really I already love the baby.” Awww! Now I almost wish she could go with us today to Birmingham when we get a Level II ultrasound and should be able to find out the baby’s gender. We do have another appointment with my regular OB in a couple of weeks though that I’m excited for her to experience. Lots of fun life events for one little girl! Tell us about the positive events your kids have experienced this summer. Comments (2 Comments) Leave A Comment Register Now To Comment!

We took our oldest son to B'ham to hear the heartbeat and ultrasound when we found out he was having a brother. He also stayed with us in the room with my mother-in-law right up to delivery, then he waited outside with his grandmother:) He was 4 1/2 and even now at 12, still recalls the various experiences. However you are able to make her a part of everything, I'm sure she will treasure it for years.
